Sound simple? That’s because it is. Here’s how to get started in three easy steps:
Step 1: Add the Staff Directory app for your organization
Find Staff Directory by Cloudwell in Microsoft AppSource.
Then, in the SharePoint Admin Center, go to Advanced → API Access and approve the permissions requested by the app. These permissions enable directory sync and allow Staff Directory to show the correct people to the right users based on delegated Azure AD permissions.
Step 2: Add Staff Directory to SharePoint or Teams
To add to SharePoint:
Navigate to the SharePoint page where you want to add the directory
Click Edit in the top-right corner
Click the + icon where you want the app to appear
Search for Staff Directory by Cloudwell and add the web part.
To add to Microsoft Teams:
From your Teams channel, click the + icon to add a new tab
Search for Staff Directory, click Add, then hit Save
The directory will now appear as a tab in your team for quick access
Step 3: Configure your directory settings
You can fully customize Staff Directory to suit your needs, from display format to filtering options. You’ll need SharePoint member permissions or higher to make changes.
Key configuration options:
Page layout: Choose Cards or List view as default
Card size: Display small, medium, or large profiles
Filters: Enable quick filters like department, job title, location, manager, or company name
Search: Let users search by name, title, or any field shown
Presence indicator: Show live Teams availability status
Export tools: Let users export directory data as CSV or Excel
Celebrations: Highlight employee birthdays (via Delve) and work anniversaries (via Azure AD)
Language support: Over 22 languages available out-of-the-box
You can configure settings from the web part in SharePoint or the tab dropdown in Teams. Just click Settings, and the panel will appear on the right-hand side.
