SharePoint Add-In retirement announcement
If you’re using SharePoint Add-Ins to enhance your SharePoint sites, this is for you.
Microsoft has announced the retirement of these add-ins in favor of modern SharePoint extensibility models.
Here are the dates you need to know:
- March 1st, 2024 – The public marketplace will stop accepting new SharePoint Add-Ins
- July 1st, 2024 – The public marketplace will stop offering SharePoint Add-Ins
- November 1st, 2024 – SharePoint Add-Ins will stop working for new tenants
- April 2nd, 2026 – SharePoint Add-Ins will stop working for existing tenants
As you’d expect, Microsoft is recommending migration to SharePoint Framework (SPFx).

Introducing Fluid Framework Beta 2.0
From retirement to regeneration. Users of Fluid Framework, the open-source platform for real-time developer collaboration, will be happy to know that Fluid Framework Beta 2.0 is now available, with general availability planned for the summer.
New features include:
- SharePoint Embedded – a new relay service allowing developers to benefit from all the features of Microsoft 365 storage, such as security and compliance, by keeping collaborative data within a Microsoft 365 tenant.
- SharedTree – developed in response to user feedback, the SharedTree Distributed Data Structure (DDS) makes it easier to model collaborative data by providing an intuitive programming interface for working with data and supporting a broad range of data types including objects, arrays, and maps.
- Microsoft and third-party apps including Microsoft Loop and Autodesk.

Develop your SharePoint Framework solutions with the Teams Toolkit
If you’re a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) user don’t miss this presentation by Microsoft Principal Product Manager Vesa Juvonen, introducing new functionality that allows you to import an existing SharePoint Framework solution and continue developing it within the Teams Toolkit.

Okay, so we couldn’t look at what’s on the horizon without mentioning our favorite AI-powered productivity tool, and with news that Copilot for Microsoft 365 is now available to SMEs, we had to share the Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 Optimization Assessment.
Once completed, you’ll receive a report outlining recommendations on how to optimize your environment for Copilot for Microsoft 365.
